Pilot Housing Program
Freedom for Resilient Women
Affordable Housing for Single Mother Student Families
SINGLE MOTHER STUDENTS OFTEN DROP OUT OF SCHOOL DUE TO HOUSING INSECURITY.
Freedom for Resilient Women (FRW) is working with property owners in Utah to pilot a program that provides deeply subsidized housing to single mother students. Property owners rent 2-3 bedroom units to FRW at below market prices. Qualified single mother student families occupy the units, maintain a GPA of 2.8 or higher, and receive academic counseling and support services if their GPA falls under 3.2.
Private donors “adopt” single mother families by contributing $500 to $1000 per month toward a family’s rent. These donors may be individuals or organizations and have the option to donate anonymously or to build relationships with the families they support.
Our goal is for each single mother student family to pay a minimum of $100 and maximum of $350 a month for rent and utilities combined!
NOTE: This pilot program is currently limited to Utah only. FRW is measuring the academic progress of single mother student families in Utah that participate in our affordable housing program as well as the interest of Utah property owners and donors. FRW will begin expansion of the program into other states once the Utah affordable housing program is successfully underway.
